Today it's International Women's Day. We started celebrating it yesterday. We took a break in our work and went to the small town of Aravan, in southern Kyrgyzstan, just close to the border to Uzbekistan.
Our local partner organization Mehr Shavkat had arranged a big party for the women who are members of their self help groups in the area. The theme of the party was reconciliation. Uzbek and Kyrgyz women attended in large numbers and it was a proud and happy celebration with good food, dancing and speaches.
For us all it was a good way of celebrating an important international day.
